Space Access

Access is granted with BruinCard only (including UCLA Law, Business and UCLA Health cards). Access is monitored by the UCLA Community Service Officers (CSOs).

  • To enter or stay at Night Powell, you must show a physical BruinCard. The card will be scanned to ensure the holder is an active UCLA student, faculty or staff member.
  • Screenshots or images of BruinCards, Canvas, MyUCLA, class schedules or BruinLearn cannot be used to enter Night Powell.
  • If a patron is already utilizing the first floor study hall before the library closes, they must present their physical BruinCards to the CSOs to remain in the building during Night Powell hours.
  • Patrons who fail to present their BruinCards will be turned away or asked to leave by the CSOs on duty.

Night Powell hours vary on weekends and holidays. Please see the Powell Library page for current hours.

Overnight Spaces and Services

  • Spaces: Only the first-floor study hall of Powell Library is open for Night Powell. All other floors are closed.
  • There are no staffed services available during Night Powell.
  • The following self-service features are available:
    • 2 WEPA printers
    • 1 scanner/copier
    • 6 group study rooms
    • Access to book stacks
    • Overnight book return drop
    • Self check-out machine
    • CLICC lending lockers
    • Wheelchair lift

Get Help and Report Problems

  • For safety and security issues, please notify the Community Service Officer (CSO) on duty at the library's entrance.
  • For building issues (including housekeeping, plumbing, lighting, wheelchair lift, etc.), please call UCLA Facilities at 310-825-9236.
  • For issues with library accounts, reserve or book lending, fines and fees, please visit the library during open hours or email college-circ@library.ucla.edu.
  • For issues with CLICC equipment lending, fines and fees, or lending lockers, please visit the library during open hours or contact CLICC.
