Leave No Trace

U.S., 2018

Leave No Trace is a meditative story that embraces silence and slow revelation. Set in Oregon’s lush woods, it follows a teenage girl (Thomasin McKenzie) and her PTSD-stricken father (Ben Foster) as they live off the grid. The forest, more than just a backdrop, becomes a vital character in the film. Debra Granik offers a fresh take on feminine coming-of-age while also exploring veteran suicide and houselessness, and casting local first-time actors for authenticity.—Public Programmer Beandrea July
