About the Workshop

Join us for a nine-day Carpentries workshop series aimed at teaching participants the essential concepts, skills, and tools for R in RStudio, Python in Jupyter Notebook, an introduction to the Unix Shell, Version Control with Git, SQL, Tidy Data and OpenRefine. This workshop is designed to empower researchers with the computing skills necessary for research analysis.

This workshop is free and participants can register for individual session topics or the entire series.

Who Can Participate?

All University of California students, staff, postdocs and faculty are welcome to join.

Workshop Curriculum

Introduction to Unix Shell: Learn the basics of command line interface and navigating within files and directories.

Version Control with Git: Manage work, edit code, and collaborate on a team project in a repository.

Introduction to R: Basic coding, data access, and data analysis functions using RStudio.

Introduction to Python: Basic coding, data access, and data analysis functions using Jupyter Notebook.

Tidy Data: Clean, transform, and track changes to data.

SQL: Relational databases, data import, and basic SQL queries.
